U-PROTECT

Help keep our vulnerable groups safe!

At Unionville Alliance Church, safety is a priority... for both our volunteers & our guests.

We are committed to creating a safe environment and protecting each person within our church family and the larger community. In order to accomplish this, we ask that all prospective Ministry Personnel and Ministry Assistants submit to the recruitment and screening process managed by the U-Protect Team.

If you're reading this because you're interested in serving as a volunteer... thank you! We appreciate your servant heart and desire to bless others with your time and talents. Please work through the steps below, and we'll get you on board to start serving as soon as possible!

Ready to Start Volunteering?

Thank you for your interest in serving at Unionville Alliance Church! U-Protect is an abuse prevention training that helps us in providing a safe environment for all our vulnerable groups including children, youth and seniors. We are committed to creating a safe environment and protecting each person within our church family and the larger community. There will be zero tolerance for abuse.

All prospective Ministry Personnel and Ministry Assistants are to submit to the recruitment and screening process managed by the U-Protect Team. The recruitment and screening process includes attending a training session, submitting applications, references, completing an interview and submitting a Vulnerable Sector Check.

Information received is confidential and is being gathered for the purposes of maintaining a safe environment for children, youth and vulnerable adults, as well as those who serve in these ministries at Unionville Alliance Church.

Attend a U-Protect training session and complete the steps outlined below!

Next Training Session...

Thursday, January 29 @ 6 pm

Step 1:

Read our U-PROTECT Manual

Please review our safety protocol manual, which you can download by clicking the button below.

Step 2:

Complete the AODA Training

The province of Ontario has committed to becoming accessible to people with disabilities by the year 2025. The legislation is called the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). As part of this commitment, registered charities like Unionville Alliance Church are required to follow the accessibility rules and deadlines that have been set out by the province.

You can access the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) training by pressing the button below. Once you've completed the training, press the other button and fill out the certificate provided.

When you fill out the certificate, fill in your name at the top of the page and select the box "REQUIRED TOPICS FOR THE CUSTOMER SERVICE STANDARD TRAINING" and put your signature and name at the bottom.

Upon completion of the certificate, you can email a copy to uprotect@uachome.org

Step 3:

Complete the Ministry Personnel Application Form

You can access the form below.

Step 4:

Submit Character References

Send the form linked below to two adults who are not related to you. Choose individuals who can attest to your character. If possible, choose a previous or current pastor.

Step 5:

Sign the Statement of Faith

As part of the C&MA family, we subscribe to the Statement of Faith of The Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada as amended from time to time. Access our Statement of Faith form by pressing the button below.

Step 6:

Sign a Volunteer Agreement & Covenant of Care

Complete this step only after you've finishing attending a U-PROTECT Training Session.

Step 7:

Apply for a Vulnerable Sector Check

Once you've completed Step 6, you will receive an email that includes a volunteer letter, which will allow you to secure a volunteer discount when you apply for a VSC check through the appropriate link below.

UAC will reimburse you for any costs you incur for requesting your VSC.

Once you have your VSC, please email a digital copy to uprotect@uachome.org or submit a physical copy to our office.

FAQs

While we understand that this can be a hassle, we take safety very seriously at Unionville Alliance Church. There is no room for negotiation when it comes to leniency in our process. We kindly ask that you comply with our process to ensure the safety of everyone at our church is prioritized.

If you have a copy of a Vulnerable Sector Check that is less than 3 years old, you may submit that to our records, but you will have to resubmit a copy once it is 3 years or older.

If you have concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to our U-Protect team (info at the bottom of this page).

While you will not have to undergo the entire volunteer onboarding process, you will have to resubmit an updated Vulnerable Sector Check every 3 years.

You will be contacted when your VSC expires--no need to try and track down the date of expiration yourself.

Additionally, our U-Protect training sessions are a mandatory to take every year. If you are committed to volunteering, we expect you to also commit to making it to one of the training sessions.

We typically hold two training sessions: one before summer, and one in the fall. Refer to the top of the page for info on when the next U-Protect training session is.
