The church of Smyrna was known as the persecuted church because of the suffering they went through for the cause of Christ. They were encouraged to stay faithful in the midst of difficult times knowing that a crown of life was awaiting them. As we remember the National Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church, let us pray for and support our brothers and sisters around the world who are being persecuted for their faith. Let's listen to the Spirit as he directs us in our times of trials as well.
